Technical Interview Prep

Cost: No-cost
Timeline: 10 weeks (Summer 2023)
Commitment: 4 hours per week

Ace the technical interview with this course. In 10-weeks, students will gain a preview of real-world software topics and be prepared to solve challenging algorithmic problems in whiteboard and coding interviews. Whether you're beginning your search for an internship or you're about to try to land your first full-time SWE position in the industry, this is the course for you.

Intro to Software Engineering

Cost: No-cost
Timeline: 10 weeks (Summer 2023)
Commitment: 4 hours per week
Skill Level: Beginner

Introduces software engineering and computer science concepts to students with little to no programming experience. Primarily taught in Python programming language and focuses on beginner topics from conditional, loops, big O notation, dictionaries, strings, and arrays. Designed for first and second-year college students and does not require any previous coding experience.

Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years or older by June 6, 2023
  • Must be enrolled in a college or university in the U.S. by June 6, 2023
  • Must commit to attending classes during the required days and times; no exceptions will be made
  • Must be able to attend in-person visits to Amazon headquarters at Crystal City, Arlington, Virginia on June 5 and August 19

Intro to Software Engineering

  • Students interested in learning more about a career in software engineering and tech

Technical Interview Prep

  • Rising Sophomores and Juniors are preferred
  • Have completed at least one basic programming course and an algorithms and data structures course
  • Students who are pursuing a course of study in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related subject
  • Will be able to complete 5-10 hours of work outside class time each week
Those who identify as Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, or are the first in their family to attend college are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

How to Apply

  1. Fill out a 10-15 minute application
    about your previous exposure to programming, your interest in a career in tech, and general information about you as a person. You will need a GitHub account in order to complete the application.
    Note: No coding experience is required for Intro to Software Engineering.
  2. Complete a HackerRank Assessment.

    Applicants for Intro to Software Engineering will complete the HackerRank diagnostic assessment to gauge where they are when they start the course and map their progress throughout the course. 
    • Don't worry! Since this course is for beginners with no prior coding experience, your performance on this assessment will not affect you admittance to this course.

    Applicants for Technical Interview Prep will complete a HackerRank calibration test. This is a 100-minute timed assessment that is meant to analyze your understanding of concepts that will be covered in our courses. Students who score above a certain threshold will be placed in our Intermediate course, and those who meet a higher threshold will be placed in our Advanced course.

  • How do I apply for this AmazonNext x CodePath program?

    For both the Intro to Software Engineering courses, you will need to fill out a questionnaire, which will have questions about your programming experience and your personal goals and history.

    Then you will need to complete the HackerRank assessment. This is a required portion of the application that is due  May 14th at 11:59 PM.

  • What are the program dates?

  • What is CodePath's Technical Interview Prep Course?

    The Technical Interview Prep course from CodePath is a no-cost 10-week virtual class that helps undergraduate students learn the skills needed for successfully acing the technical interview process. The course accommodates varying experience levels from intermediate to advanced. Problem-solving practice, tools and techniques, mock interviews, and info sessions with industry professionals will be included in the program.

  • What is CodePath's Intro to Software Engineering Course?

    This is a 10-week course  taught primarily in Python programming language and focuses on beginner topics from conditional, loops, big O notation, dictionaries, strings, and arrays. The course is designed for first-year and second-year college students,  and does not require any previous coding experience.

  • What is the difference between the intermediate and advance track for the Technical Interview Prep course?

    • Intermediate track includes technical interviewing strategies and practice for landing internship offers and assumes basic knowledge of data structures & algorithms. 

    • Advanced track focuses on technical interviewing strategies for solving tougher and more complex algorithm problems, including graphs, dynamic programming, greedy algorithms, and backtracking.

  • Can you tell me more about the Emerging Engineers Summit?

    All students who complete a CodePath course in 2023 will be eligible to attend CodePath's Emerging Engineers Summit. This is a five-day experience of opportunities, with learning sessions led by top tech companies, networking, and community events to connect with inspiring and diverse professionals and meet hiring employers. Last year, our top company partners included Bloomberg, Capital One, Intuit, LinkedIn, Roblox, and Uber. 52% of our students who attended a CodePath hiring event received job offers.

  • What will be the instructors for the courses?

    The course instructors will be professionals from major technology companies, start-ups, and academia.

  • What if I need additional help during the course?

    CodePath teaching assistants will be available to help with assignments. You will be in a Slack channel where you can ask questions, and you can also email your instructors if you have further questions.

  • Will I receive a certificate upon completion of the course?

    Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion upon completion of the course. Many of our students will post and share their certificates on LinkedIn, and we encourage you to do so!

  • When will I hear back about the status of my application?
