A New Category of Internships to Increase Diversity in Tech

CodePath is excited to partner with major tech companies Workday and Course Hero to increase the recruitment, hiring, and advancement of underrepresented talent, while valuing inclusion, belonging, and equity for all.

SITE is a hands-on experience that will enable early level computer science students to deepen their understanding of full stack web development, gain technical work experience, and establish meaningful relationships with mentors and technology leaders at our partner companies.  While some students are still interviewing, nearly 86% of those who participated in our 2021 program have already secured their junior year paid internship opportunities.

About the Summer Internship for Tech Excellence Program

SITE is a 10-week program that gives rising juniors (class of 2024) relevant work experience and weekly mentorship from various software engineering teams. Students will be introduced to full-stack web development, gaining an understanding of database, back-end code, front-end code, testing, design, and deployment. Each day, students will participate in team meetings and workshops, with teaching assistants available for support. During the second half of the program, students will develop a capstone project of their own design that will live beyond this internship. Participants will walk away with industry experience, as well as a deeper understanding of their own technical capabilities and interests.

Interns are expected to participate daily from 8am to 4pm PT. This internship opportunity will take place virtually*.

*Some partner companies may organize in-person events as part of the internship experience, pending the latest Covid-19 restrictions. If travel is required, CodePath and/or the partner companies will cover travel and lodging expenses.

Hear from Our Alums

"I learned how important communication is not only in your career but in life in general. I communicated with instructors, mentors, peers in the program, and invitees who taught us about a specific part of tech. I learned that there are so many diverse careers in tech, whether you like art, research, data/numbers, security, etc. Talking to everyone I encountered during this program helped broaden my mind for the numerous opportunities I have in this industry and helped me realize how important diversity is in my life."

"After the internship, I feel more confident. I can now explain things that I learned to other people, which I really enjoyed getting from the program. I’m now teaching workshops for web development for my school’s program, which helps me solidify what I learned. I’d say CodePath itself, and working there played a huge role in my persisting in technology."
