There is no single path to a meaningful career in software engineering. Join us on November 18 and hear from a panel of tech industry leaders (who are also CodePath's instructors) on their personal journeys in tech, how they navigate the field's competitiveness, and what resources they recommend for computer science students looking to gain a foothold in the industry. While CodePath's instructors all have vastly different career journeys, they all have one thing in common: the commitment to pass on their knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of software engineers.
Some topics we will cover:
Senior Mobile Engineer at Instacart
Deonna is currently a senior Android engineer at Instacart, a grocery delivery service app currently valued at over $39 Billion. Originally a full-stack software engineer, Deonna realized her love for Android app development after taking a CodePath course. This course helped Deonna land her first Android engineering role at Netflix. Since then she has led teams to build features touched by millions of users. Not only has Deonna remained part of the CodePath community, we are also proud to have her as an instructor for the Android Mobile Development course.
CEO & Co-Founder at Soundwave
Dan Ndombe is currently the CEO at Soundwave, the short social audio & microcasting app. Originally a self-taught software engineer, Dan saw promise in the future of mobile app development, so he took CodePath's iOS course. He applied the skills he learned at CodePath to his product roles at Netflix and Pinterest. Since then, Dan has continued giving back to the CodePath community by teaching iOS Development.
Senior Mobile Engineer at Instacart
Marina is currently a senior Android engineer at Instacart, a grocery delivery service app currently valued at over $39 Billion. Before becoming a software engineer, Marina had a successful career in finance. Not only did she transition from finance to software, she also now specializes in Android mobile development. Marina is also an accomplished instructor having lectured at the City College of New York in the past. We are proud to have her as one of our Android instructors.
Self-Employed Android Consultant
Alice Yuan is a software engineer who has been in the industry primarily as a mobile developer for the past 6 years. She has previously worked for Pinterest, Patreon, as well as provided consulting services for startups. Alice’s breath of experience has given her exposure to both startups and large tech companies. Additionally, Alice is the founder of aliceintechland.org, a webcomic series about her experiences in the tech industry.
